Happy Friday everyone,
Sorry for the inactivity via Facebook and email lately. I hope you've all had a good week and are ready to kick off the weekend!
QUALIFIER RESULTS:
For those of you that didn't know, we sent a team to compete in the Great Lakes Collegiate Open last week, which was a qualifier for the national championships. We took 5th place, which was good enough to earn a berth to play in South Carolina this spring! Shout out to Tyler Hanlon for shooting a huge singles round, Nate Holmberg for coming up big in his first collegiate tournament, and Kelsey Brakel for putting the team on her back with her consistency. Next step: fundraising!
COURSE UPDATES:
Yesterday, Jeremy and I went around to each hole to mark the poles with the correct hole number. Today at 1:45pm, I will be putting in the teepads. I will also be tying a piece of string to each basket that points in the direction of the next teepad. In the next week, Jeremy will be developing a course map which will be put up on our website. Hopefully there will be less lost people on the course after these changes!
If anyone is wondering about those 3 missing baskets, we are in the process of negotiating a price. They will hopefully be coming soon! In the meantime, Hole 3 should be played to the nearest green pole, Hole 13 should played to the wooden box (where you will see the hole number), and Hole 16 should be played to the tree straight ahead at the end of the grass.
CLUB ROUND SUNDAY:
This Sunday, we will be meeting up at the MSU course at 5:00pm for a club round. If there are enough people, we will play a doubles format. Skill level doesn't matter, we're just going out there to have fun! It looks like we should continue to have beautiful weather throughout the weekend, so come on out and bring some friends!
TO COME:
I put in a request to have our first club meeting on Thursday, October 3, in the evening. Once the time and location is confirmed, I will send out a notice.
At the meeting, we will be setting goals for the year as a club. We will also start planning some future events. Ones we already have in mind are a weekend disc golf trip to some of Michigan's best courses, and a Discraft clinic with Mark Ellis.
We are going to be holding elections for eBoard members at the end of October. We have the following open positions: Secretary, Treasurer, Event Planner, and Public Relations. Our three current eBoard members are all seniors, so we need to have some younger students come in that can help the club continue and keep growing in the future! Getting involved is not only a great way to impact our club, but to build your resume.
SEE YOU ALL SOON:
We hope to see you all soon! If you have any questions, do not hesitate to send us an email, or post on our Facebook group.
Peace
